Journal of Studies in Religion, Spirituality & Management

(formerly known as Journal of Islam and Management):

Since its first issue in 2012, the Journal of Studies in Religion, Spirituality and Management (JSRSM) a peer-review academic journal, has published scholarly papers – empirical and reflexive; theory development, case studies and book reviews – the largest depository of current knowledge in this fast-evolving scholarly field.

JSRSM is proud to be the leading academic forum for disseminating work, for the development of theory and best practice, and for the exchange of ideas and debate in Religion, Spirituality & Management.

We serve five large communities:

  • students and scholars of spirituality and religion pertaining to management and organizations;
  • students and scholars in religious studies and practical theology relevant to work, managing and organizing;
  • students and scholars of business ethics, corporate social responsibility and sustainability, informed by a faith perspective or practice;
  • students and scholars in the social sciences with an interest in religion and spirituality;
  • practitioners in the field of spirituality and religion, including religious post holders and practising managers.

We encompass, without prejudicing any belief or none, a multitude of interests and concerns. JSRSM wishes to define the field through conceptual, theoretical and empirical understandings of JSRSM that include: interdisciplinary and multi-methodological approaches—all spiritual and religious traditions—examining the relationship between JSRSM and society – critical, theological and philosophical reflections on JSRSM—metaphysical explanations of JSRSM.

There are no fees for submitting a publication for consideration, nor for publishing in JSRSM. The journal supports an open access publishing option.

JSRSM’s mission is to initiate, facilitate, produce and deliver academic and evidence-based knowledge on the role and place of spirituality in today’s world of work. We aim to probe deeper and wider into our know-how of managing and organising, by recourse to the wisdoms of all faiths and beliefs (including non-faiths) and by reference to organizational, managerial and related fields of knowledge and practice. We are dedicated to working toward the development of theory and best practice, the exchange of ideas and to enable a forum for debate, through the dissemination of cutting-edge knowledge, scientifically validated.

JSRSM publishes original research papers on the latest developments in all the fields of management with strong emphasis on originality and scientific quality. It is a peer-reviewed, open access journal that publishes research articles in all areas related to Islamic management. Working on principles, foundations and problems of management from the perspective of Islam is its most prominent task so that it is in its way towards achieving the scientific – research ranking from the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. Based on its objectives, tasks and missions to develop and strengthen scientific relations with scholars of both Hawzah and university and to promote Islamic management, RIHU publishes JSRSM in accordance with the criteria set forth in the regulations which validate scientific research based journals, magazines and publications proclaimed by MSRT.

Journal of Studies in Religion, Spirituality & Management is a semi-annual journal, published in order to distribute original research accomplishments within the field of management, help finding problems concerning management and solving them, and establishing active scientific relationships among researchers of this field of science. The main acceptance criteria include: innovativeness, importance, integrity and applicability. Therefore, all papers which get accepted for publication are original research papers.

Papers with scientific, research-based content which intend to solve management problems are given priority. Papers based on fieldwork should be backed by theoretical analysis and interpretation. Likewise, theoretical papers, depending on the topic, should include scientific and applied aspects. It is necessary that papers will be organized, especially in introduction and conclusion, in such a way that the generality of the topic, its importance and place in scientific boundaries, and the motivations of authors are clearly explained and discussed.

Journal of Studies in Religion, Spirituality & Management is an open-access, double-blind, peer-reviewed journal published by Research Institute of Hawzah and University, the leading research institute in Humanities and Social Sciences in Iran. Journal of Studies in Religion, Spirituality & Management  has been established to provide an intellectual platform for national and international researchers working on issues related to Islamic management. The Journal was founded in as a response to quick advancements in organizational and management issues and was dedicated to the publication of highest-quality research studies that report findings on issues of great concern to the profession of management from an Islamic approach. In this journal, as well as all other journals published by RIHU, each paper is given its specific DOI number to facilitate identification.  

To allow for easy and worldwide access to the most updated research findings, the journal is set to be an open-access journal. Yet, the journal does not charge any fee for reviewing, processing, and publishing research papers from the authors or from the research institutes and organizations. All the mentioned processes for paper publication are sponsored by Research Institute of Hawzah and University.

This journal, with an acceptance rate of 30%, publishes in an online platform.
